The Great Depression was a time period when the stock market collapsed, business and banks closed, farmers' products decreased in numbers because of the land, and War World I had just ended with a debt. The Great Depression lost an estimate of thirty billion dollars. All of this caused unemployment and starvation to the people nationwide. One fourth of the nation was unemployed and lost their homes, families, and every cent they had to their name. Many of the people depended on charity as their money source. Men and children were selling apples on the corners of streets and also shined shoes just to get little bit of change to get some food for the rest of the family.
